10 questions to ask your sales agent

Treat your agent selection process like interviewing for an employee

Many vendors simply ask an agent’s commission; but a highly experienced and capable agent may add far greater value by achieving the best result. On the other hand the cheapest agent may prove costly. Consider the following questions:

  1. How many properties have you sold in this area in the last year?
  2. How many of these properties have been similar to mine?
  3. What is your auction clearance rate?
  4. What is your list to sell ratio? (This means how many of the properties that you have listed have you actually sold)
  5. What is your average days on market?
  6. Can you email me testimonials from buyers as well as sellers in my area?
  7. What is your average sale price?
  8. How long have you been working in real estate?
  9. Have you broken a suburb record in my suburb?
  10. Give me a brief description of some of the highlights of my suburb?
